Subway Fresh Fit 500

with one comment

Last week in fantasy racing, I fell from the 87th percentile to the 84th percentile.  I hope to do better this week.  Unfortunately, Hendrick Motor Sport’s intermediate track programme has let me down thus far this evening.  Even crew cheif Chad Knaus has admitted that the Hendrick organization is behind on the intermediat tracks this year, but given the prestigious history of Hendrick Motor Sports, I don’t think this slum will last, so I am once again picking Jimmie Johnson to win this week.  Here are all four of my picks.

Jimmie Johnson
Kyle Busch
Mark Martin
Paul Menard

Good luck fantasy racers!

Samsung 500

leave a comment »

Once again, the time has come for this weeks fantasy NASCAR picks.  After last weeks exciting race at “the paperclip” in Martensvillle VA, I am now in the 87th percentile overall on Yahoo! Fantasy sports, and in 6th place out of 50 in my league.

This weeks race, the Samsung 500 will be held at Texas Motor Speedway, as we leave  my beloved short track behind for the 1.5 mile intermediate track.  We can expect high speeds at this track, and an average pit window of 50-55 laps.  The track qualifying record here is held by Brian Vickers (196.235 mph, 27.518 seconds, 11-3-06) , but you won’t see him in my fantasy picks this week.  Instead, I will lead my team with the highest average finish at this track out of any active drivers.  That is Jimmie Johnson, with an average finish of 9.2 over the last 9 races.

Here is my team in it’s entirety:

Jimmie Johnson
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Martin Truex Jr.
Scott Riggs

Wish me luck!

Update on Work & Other Less Important Matters

leave a comment »

Okay, first and foremost, I want to make a pledge to myself to post more regularly on this blog.  Daily if at all passable.  I just haven’t been keeping up with this lately like I would like to.  I have been to absorbed in playing video games and such.

Now for an update on work.  Last week I was sent home early one more day, but as of Friday, they started giving us our hours back, and as of Monday they called most people back from layoff, although some would not return.  I had submitted my resume to a few employers on Monster.com in the meantime, but most of the offers I have received thus far have been less than tempting.

Now on to more fun matters, this weeks fantasy NASCAR picks:

Jeff Gordan
Dale Earnhardt. Jr.
Kyle Busch
Brian Vickers

P.S….   When I was proofreading this post I discovered, ironically, that the word blog is not recognized by the wordpress spell checker.  Nor is the word “wordpress”.

My work week is finally over.  It is time for me to relax and enjoy my weekend.  This week also marks the end of a two week pay period, when our commissions and bonuses are calculated.  I feel like I did fairly well.  Hopefully my paycheck will reflect that feeling.

I am also sad to note the passing of Gary Gygax last week.  Gary Gygax was best known as the creator of the Dungeons & Dragons game, and an inspiration to players and dungeon masters everywhere.  He will be sorely missed by us all.

I am currently awaiting the release of the 4th edition of the Dungeons & Dragons Player’s Handbook, scheduled for this May.  I have been playing 3rd edition since it’s release, and am anxious to see the new game.  I am curious as to how well it will fare in the market.  I hope that wizards has done a good job with this new edition, and achieves there goal of attracting a new generation of players without alienating there core fan base, and ruining the game.  I will post a review of each 4th edition core rule book shortly after they are released.

Fantasy Picks for the Food City 500

Unfortunately, due to my lack of internet access for the last two races, I was unable to update my picks.  Still, my team raced on without me. I now have 1,063 fantasy points, placing me in the 66th percentile overall on Yahoo!  The current leader has 1,405 points.  This week I am back in full force, and ready for some short track racing at Bristol.  Here are my drivers for this week.

Kevin Harvick
Greg Biffle
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Dale Jarrett

Check back to see how I do!

Dayton 500 Results

with one comment

Here are the results from my NASCAR fantasy team as of race 1.

My Drivers

Jimmie Johnson finished 27th after winning the pole  and leading 1 lap, earning me 48 points.  Dale Earnhardt Jr. finished 9th after leading 12 laps, earning me 84 points.  Mark Martin led no laps and finished 31st, earning me 30 points.  Dale Jarrett led no laps and finished 16th, earning me 60 points.

I earned a total of 222 points for the week, placing me in the 33rd percentile of all the yahoo fantasy NASCAR teams.  The top teams earned 370 points.

I was a little surprised at how well Dodge did in the Daytona 500  they really took me by surprise.  However, I am still not ready to pick any Dodge teams for next weeks race at California.  Instead I am going with two Toyotas and two Fords.

My Picks for the Auto Club 500

Carl Edwards
Kyle Bush
Jamie McMurray
Brian Vickers

Fantasy Picks for the Daytona 500

with one comment

Okay NASCAR fans, the great American race will soon be upon us.  It is time for all my fellow fantasy sports nerds and I to make our selections.  This year I am playing in a Yahoo fantasy NASCAR league for the third year in a row.  I didn’t do so well my first to years, but I am more focused this year.  I have a new strategy, and hope to achieve much better results.  So without further delay, here are my drivers for race 1.

Jimmie Johnson
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Mark Martin
Dale Jarrett

After the official race results are in, I will announce how well I fared, and where I stand in relation to the rest of the Yahoo fantasy racing community.
